Orubebe Peter Godsday was born on the 6th of June 1959, in Ogbobabene, Burutu local government area, Delta state. He attended Keneyinbo Primary school, Torugbene, Delta State (Formerly Bendel State, 1966-1972), Gbesa Grammar school, Ojobo, Delta state (1973-1977), Methodist High School, Owo, Ondo State (1979-1980) and obtained his West African School Certificate (WASC).

He also attended Rivers State School of Basic Studies (1980-19820 where he obtained his General Certificate of Education "A" levels.

He then graduated from the University of Lagos (1982-1985) with a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Political Science. He further obtained a M.Sc. in International Relations from Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma (2003-2005). He has attended many professional courses within and outside the country.

Mr Orubebe has served in various positions including being the Chairman of Burutu Local Government Council, Delta state (1991-1993), as Second Member: Primary Education Board, Asaba, Delta State 2000-2003. He then became the Chairman of All Peoples Party (APP), Delta state between 2000 and 2003. He was then appointed the Special Adviser to the Delta State Governor on Urban/Regional Planning between January 2004 and November 2005.

He was also appointed the Honourable Minister of Special Duties, Presidency (2007-2008). He then rose to become the Honourable Minister of National Planning Commission/Deputy Chairman (Supervisory) in 2008 before becoming the Honourable Minister of State, Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs 2008-2010. He is currently the Honourable Minister, Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs.

Mr. Orubebe is a Christian and is happily married with children.
